Five Great Things To Make With Oatmeal
Five Great Things To Make With Oatmeal-
I eat oatmeal about twice a week and I often add frozen blueberries, strawberries or fresh cut apples to mine.I put the fruit in the bowl and pour the hot oatmeal over the top. I add chopped apples and add a dash of cinnamon. How do you prepare your oatmeal? I was eating a bowl with strawberries this morning and I started thinking about all of the great things you can make using oatmeal. Oats are whole grains; they haven’t been altered or lost their nutritious benefits through processing. Oatmeal is a great soluble fiber (it leaves the digestive track slowly allowing for a feeling of fullness). It is a great source of fiber; we all need fiber (wink). It’s a prebiotic too (the fiber works with the good bacteria in your gut providing additional health benefits). Oats provide important nutrient rich minerals. Nutrient-rich oatmeal contains (thiamin, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, manganese, selenium, and iron). Did you know that oatmeal is gluten free (not processed, but naturally gluten free)? Of course you should always read the label to make sure it hasn’t been processed differently or shared a processing element of non-gluten free products..
Breakfast on the go is a must for my sweet hubby. Just spoon yogurt, fruit and granola made from oats ( see recipe below) into a container and your day is off to a great start!
I found this creative recipe for Cherry, Coconut & Pecan Baked Oatmeal on Jilly Inspired. I can’t wait to give baked oatmeal a try.
Have you ever made a savory version of oatmeal? I haven’t. But, this Oatmeal with Sauteed Mushrooms, Onion, and Thyme looks interesting. I found it in Self Magazine
We have established that oatmeal is a healthy fiber filled way to start your day. You can also use oatmeal for your skin, and hair too. Use it in the bath tub, pour about a cup into the tub (under the running water) . Soak for a little while, the oatmeal will help to lock in moisture. Add a couple of drops of lavender to the water too and you will have a bit of aroma therapy while you soak. According to Dr. Marina I. Peredo you can use it as a dry shampoo when you are in a rush and don’t have time to wash. Sprinkle some dry oatmeal on your scalp and brush through. Will you try this one?
I hope you will give some of the Five Great Things To Make With Oatmeal a try.

I soak my steel cut oatmeal overnight. Cuts the cooking time in half for the morning. I add nuts, fruit, local honey and sometimes mix it up with a tad of brown sugar and cinnamon. We eat it regularly too. So good for you. Would love for you to join me tomorrow beginning at 7:00 a.m. For my first linkup party and post this or anything else you want to share.

We LOVE oatmeal in our house it is such a great way to start the day. We have used oatmeal in baths for rashes and it works so good. I have never tried it in shampoo before though, we will have to give it a try. Have a blessed week!!
I eat it a few times a week. I think the dry shampoo will work best for blondes. hugs
We eat oatmeal a lot here, too. We use peanut butter, banana, chia seeds or hemp hearts, regular milk, almond milk. . . . you’re right. .. . the possibilities are endless! We also grind it into powder to put in my daughter’s bath when she has eczema attacks. It helps.
Peanut butter and banana are wonderful flavors to add. One of our granddaughters has terrible eczema I will mention it to my daughter again. Hugs
Katie, I eat oatmeal 5-6 days a week! My preferred version is muesli, however I do eat it cooked during the winter months! Thanks for sharing the many great uses of oatmeal! Happy Tuesday! Pam @ Everyday Living
