Answered Prayers
Thank you ALL for your prayers, emails, and comments for our daughter and our family ( if you missed the post it is HERE). God dispatched his angels and I am happy to share an update. First I want to tell you they found another tumor on her thyroid. So there are three. The other day the Neurosurgeon’s office called our daughter and it went something like this.
Neurosurgeon’s office, “please come to the office now”,
Daughter,” umm, that sounds urgent, okay, do I need to bring someone with me?”
Neurosurgeon’s office ” yes, the surgeon wants to see you now”
Daughter, “okay my husband can leave work and come with me”
Neurosurgeon’s office, “okay “
If you received this phone call knowing you have three tumors, it would send your mind spinning when you are told it is urgent to get to the Neurosurgeon’s office right away. Right? Let me tell you, our daughter is a tough cookie, but it was an emotion-charged 50 mile drive for them to the neurosurgeon’s office.
When they arrived at the Neurosurgeon’s office he told them the two tumors on her pituitary gland will require brain surgery and he explained the procedure ( I’ll leave the grisly details out). Our daughter said are we talking life and death here? Keep in mind the emotion-charged drive to the Neurosurgeon’s office.
Please usher in the hallelujah choir now…
He replied, ” it is not” life or death and it is a 1% chance it will turn into anything more serious. She can schedule the surgery when she is ready. Meanwhile, she will have to tolerate the migraines, blurry vision and fatigue the best that she can. Prayers answered! Now I wonder if you are thinking, well she still needs brain surgery and that can’t be good. You are right, no surgery is good, and the thought of brain surgery in any way is scary my friends. But, the BIG lift me up moment is, it’s not life or death five words that made a HUGE difference.
Regarding the tumor on her thyroid, she will have regular ultrasounds and she will be monitored for the next six months to determine a course of action. During my telephone conversation with our daughter, I expressed relief, blessings and prayers answered. But, as soon as we hung up I was on my knees in prayer, in gratitude with tears streaming down my face. I regained my composure and called my hubby with the news. He, of course, was elated. But his immediate disdain over the urgency of the Neurosurgeon’s office was evident.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers, faith, love, and light.

Am certainly so upset for your family about your daughter, but am glad it’s not life or death. . Sometimes people in medical offices don’t know how to contact people in the correct not alarming way. How scarey for you all.
I had my thyroid taken out when I was 2 months pregnant for my youngest son. Already had 2 kids. Had dealt with hypothryoidism alll my life as thyroid never worked right from after my birth.. Will they need to take her thyroid out when the tumor is taken out? Praying for her to deal with all this as well as pray for you all. Not a great time for your family, so sorry for that. God be with you all, especially your daughter.
Katherine I’ll be praying that all goes well and that she is home with her family in no time at all!

Oh, sweet friend! I am SO sorry to know of your dear daughter’s health issues, but I am SO thankful she got the news that it is not life or death! I can’t imagine how relieved you feel, and we know that the same God who allowed that news to come your way is the same God who holds your daughter in His hands. Surely He will see her through this ordeal. I am praying for her now. May God send the peace that passes all understanding to your hearts during this season, and may He heal your daughter and grant her long life. 🙂
Praise God, Katherine!

I just saw this and read the original post. Praise God for answered prayers. I will keep your daughter, you and family in my prayers.
Wow, Katherine. What a few weeks of turmoil. I’m so glad the prognosis is good! Believe me, I know what it feels like to be told you have a tumor or “mass” on an organ, but you have to wait for days to find out the course of action. It’s very hard to be the one who has the tumor and very hard on the people who love you.
