A Good Day

Today is a good day. The white cotton ball clouds dot the blue sky, the temperature is a near perfect 75 degrees, there is a cool breeze that touches your skin as if it were a palm leaf waved at just the right speed. Hubby is planting in the garden. Izzy is close by and loving the coolness of the tall grass. At this moment, this exact moment, all is right, and we are reminded, God is good.

I think today is a good day to share some flowery garden thoughts.

We’re saying goodbye to the bird garden this year. We will be tilling the soil and planting sod; we’ll move the birdhouse up about 3 feet and in quick time Izzy will enjoy the shade of our gorgeous fruitless pear tree.
Why are we removing it?
The birds can’t get to the birdhouse from the tree limbs because it’s to low now with the tree being so tall.
Cats! The cat’s in our neighborhood will be sad to see their perfectly manicured cat box has disappeared. Ick…

We’ve been waiting for our last bulbs to blossom in the bird garden, and just look at their beautiful ta daa moment.

We transplanted the peonies last year and they are happy in their new spot.

On Thursday we went to one of our local nursery’s and picked our veggie garden starters (hubby already planted the root veggies and his bean starters in our kitchen windowsill are almost ready). We bought a lovely hanging basket filled with miniature petunias and we brought home some gorgeous purple petunias for our driveway garden ( the garden that is adjacent to the driveway). It was a good day.

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day; it was a good day, times two! I am also referring to it as Happy Petunia Days. Hubby spoiled me by planting and taking care of things in the house, while I basically did nothing ( wink). On Saturday our oldest granddaughter (she’ll be 20 in August) and her sweetie, arrived with happy smiles, love, and some pretty petunias.

On Sunday our daughter, son in law, and our grandsons (age 9 and 12) stopped by with lovely sentimental cards and more beautiful petunias. Little side note-our second granddaughter (age 17) worked the night before until midnight and was exhausted so she stayed home ( she sees me nearly every day, she stops by after school to help me and taking me places). Our youngest granddaughter (age 15) lives in Kentucky and we don’t get to see her often, but she sent a sweet text. It was a good day. We are blessed to have the joy and love of five wonderful grandchildren.

Our lilacs are losing most of their blossoms now, but their intoxicating fragrance can still be enjoyed for a few more days.

I had another happy “flutterbies moment” (if you missed the post, I invite you to read it HERE), but “most” of the butterflies have gone now. There are a few that are sticking around. They seem to be enjoying the petunias.
