Psalm Sunday – Psalm 23
Hello friends, it’s Psalm Sunday today. The continuing blog series that tells a story of the human experience, encounters with God and unwavering faith. Today I’m sharing Psalm 23. If you’ve missed any Psalm Sundays you can find them HERE.
The very first line of Psalm 23 sets a tone of complete contentment, “The Lord is my shepherd”. A shepherd knows his flock, leads them to safe places, and ensures their needs are met. When we embrace God as our shepherd, we can let go of the need to control everything ourselves. We can trust that He will provide what we truly need.
Because life can often feel like a race against time. We rush from one thing to the next. We juggle responsibilities and worry about things we think might happen. It’s easy to feel lost, anxious, or overwhelmed. Let Psalm 23 give you a break from the chaos. Even if it’s only for a little bit.

The timeless comfort of Psalm 23
The Shepherds Prayer is a source of comfort. It has brought peace to countless people for thousands of years: Psalm 23. I use the NIV bible for most of my teachings. But, the King James version of Psalm 23 is my favorite.
The “Shepherd’s Psalm,
- The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
- He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
- He leadeth me beside the still waters.
- He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
- Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
- I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
- Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
- Thou anointest my head with oil;
- my cup runneth over.
- Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
- and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday, hugs!
