Honoring Our Heroes & Welcoming Summer
Happy Memorial Day, everyone! Before the first splash in the pool and backyard games begin, please join me for a prayer of gratitude to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military. Their courage and selflessness are the very reasons we are able to gather freely, laugh with our loved ones, and enjoy the blessings of a peaceful summer day.

Merciful Lord, today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are deeply grateful for their courage, their sacrifice, and the freedom we enjoy because of their selflessness. Please bring comfort and peace to the families who miss them dearly. As we enjoy the blessings of this day, keep our hearts truly thankful. May we live in a way that honors the legacy of the heroes we lost.Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Today marks the first “unofficial” day of summer! Fill it with happy memory making, barbecues, pool parties, yummy food, running through sprinklers, blowing bubbles and flying kites. Stay hydrated and please wear sunscreen. Let’s start this summer season with hearts full of gratitude. xox
Happy belated Memorial Day to you, Katherine! I was thinking along the same lines with a Memorial Day post shared yesterday with a cemetery visit. It shared a bit about my first fiancé who died 43 years ago on May 25th, and which coincided with the holiday this year. Similar thoughts of remembrance and thoughts for families. <3
I hope you have had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
So sorry for the delay in my reply. Thank you for your comment. We did post similar thoughts of remembrance. Yours was bitter sweet. HUGS!!
