A Classic Christmas
Some of you may know, from reading my About page, that I love classic films. One of my favorite television channels is TCM ( Turner Classic Movies). Every holiday season I get lost in the wonderful holiday classic films that are rich with heart and filled with holiday spirit. They are perfect for the holidays. I love them, I love them all! I have my standard few that I never miss though and they are:
“Miracle on 34th Street from 1947” ( image from Duke university Library)
“White Christmas from 1954” ( image from free wall paper)
“The Bishop’s Wife” from 1947( image from Cary Grant.net)
and
“It’s a Wonderful Life” from 1946 ( image from Duke University library)
I also try and catch “White Christmas from 1954” and “Christmas in Connecticut from 1945”
There are so many versions of A Christmas Carol, I see as many as possible, classic and new.
Last, but not least, although it is not really a classic film. But certainly is a holiday classic. “A Christmas Story from 1983” ( image from amazon) Okay, everyone say….frag-e-lay…..( those of you who are familiar with this film probably say this “catch phrase” whenever you can) giggle. Those of you who are not familiar with the film? Are there any out there?
Do you have a standard holiday film? One must see film that just means Christmas?
Oh I am a total classic Christmas gal. I love to watch all the old movies and specials and I love the older versions of the songs. The only way to go for me. Katherine have a wonderful Christmas and I hope you and your family have a blessed New Year too.

It isn’t a classic – yet – but I always have to watch “Polar Express!” I love that movie even without grandchildren watching with me! Oops…now you know I am weird! LOL!
My favorite movie is “The Bishop’s Wife.” Such a classic with great actors. Just saw it last week. I’ll never get tired of seeing it. Loved the taxi driver!
I know, I love them also. I am hooked on the Lifetime Channel now too! Love these silly Christmas movies!! What can we say?

My husband and I just watched Miracle on 34th Street for the first time this month. I love classic movies too. One of my favorites is Life With Father. I’m looking forward to watching The Bishop’s Wife!
I already watched White Christmas. Will be watching Miracle on 34th St. and It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve, I can’t wait.

I have never ever seen The Bishops Wife. I wonder if I can find it on Netflix. I LOVE Miracle on 34th Street – will cry EVERY time. And I know A Christmas Story by heart!!! Well I couldn’t recite a line right this second but when its on I can 😉

A Christmas Story is my favorite. Laugh my way through the whole movie every year!
Ok so it’s not a classic but I watch Christmas Vacation every year. I watch the classics as well. My favorite is Miracle on 34th Street from 1947.

TCM is my favorite channel. My new favorite is Shop Around The Corner. James Stewart is my all time favorite actor.

I love love LOVE holiday movies to Katherine! I just watched The Bishop’s Wife (the one with Carey Grant) last weekend. I own my own copy. Joyful! And what is Christmas without watching It’s a Wonderful Life? That’s a must!! And call me crazy, but I just have to watch It’s Christmas Charlie Brown every year too. Haha!

My husband stayed up this past weekend and watched HOLIDAY with Katharine Hepburn and loved it! I unfortunately slept through…he says this is now one of his favorites! I really want to see it! It would be difficult for me to pick a favorite…I love ALL Christmas movies…and I just cannot get enought of them. These are all among the ones I will not miss!
I look for one of the classic versions of Charles Dickens’, Christmas Carol, too. Charlie Brown’s Christmas! Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol showed up on one of those new/old channels a few weeks ago.
Mostly, I try to see all those you listed plus I like the movie of The Walton’s Christmas with Patricia Neal, but that’s rarely shown. The Bishop’s Wife and Christmas in CT are favorites.
Don’t shoot your eye out! I double dog dare you to … ha ha.

Just watched “Miracle” for the umpteenth time. Haven’t seen “It’s A Wonderful Life” yet, this year. Used to watch “A Christmas Story” with the kids, but haven’t watched it in the past few years.
