4 Barbecue Sauces Even Picky Eaters Will Love

Yes, it is Tuesday and yes, the Between the Lines feature is supposed to be posted today.Unfortunately I had a few drop outs a few rescheduled and it only left me with one sweet blogger to feature. I moved her to next week’s group. It’s barbecue season my friends! Clean up your grill and get your seasoning ready, I have your barbecue sauce covered!

 

Bacon Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

Striped Spatula

4 ounces Apple-wood Smoked bacon, cut into a small dice
1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons molasses (not Blackstrap)
3 tablespoons bourbon
1/2 cup firmly-packed dark brown sugar
1/2 – 2 teaspoons chili powder (optional, to taste)
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
kosher salt

HOMEMADE HONEY BBQ SAUCE

Ingredients:
2 cups ketchup
3 tablespoon dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons worchestershire
3 teaspoons liquide smoke
1/2 cup honey
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
4 tablespoons butter
pinch of cayenne pepper
salt to taste

 Root Beer Barbecue Sauce

Brittanys Pantry

1 c root beer
1 c ketchup
1/4 c orange juice
3 T worcestershire sauce
2 T brown sugar
1 T molasses
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper

Sugar Free BBQ Sauce

This is a lactose free, sugar free ( some natural sugars remain),migraine safe recipe ( please know your triggers before creating any of the recipes I share). If you are not on a restricted diet please see the substitutions in parenthesis and add 1/2 cup minced white onion

What You Need
2 Tbsp. Lactose free butter (or you can use “real” butter)
4 Garlic cloves (minced)
3 tsp. Brown sugar substitute (I use Splenda)
2 Tbsp. Sugar free apple sauce ( I use motts no sugar added)
2 tsp. Crushed red pepper
1 1/2 tsp. Mustard powder
1 tsp. my everything seasoning
2-3 tsp Chili powder (hubby says chipotle is best)
1 6 oz. Tomato paste (I use Hunts no salt added)
Tbsp. Chili powder (your choice)
1 1/2 tsp. Mustard powder
1 Cup chicken stock
¾ Cup water
1 -2 Tbsp. Distilled white vinegar (you can use apple cider vinegar too)
1 Qt. Saucepan with lid

Lets Make It! In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté garlic in butter until opaque (softened). Add all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and stir occasionally. Cook for about 20 minutes (if it is not thick enough you can increase heat and add more tomato paste.
Makes enough sauce to barbecue a whole chicken (separated). If you have any leftover put it on the table for dipping or cover and keep in the fridge for about 5-7 days
