Easter an Angel Story Part One
Hello friends this week’s y Angel Story is in two parts, part one today and part two tomorrow, Easter Sunday. Molly sat in the center pew for Easter service, her daughter Holly asleep in her lap. Molly glanced back at the door frequently throughout the service, hoping to see her brother Samuel there. It was their first Easter without her beloved husband Adam, best friend to her brother Samuel. Sadly, Samuel blamed himself for Adam’s death, and he hadn’t attended church since he returned from his tour of duty. Everyone in the town knew their story.
Best friends since grade one Samuel and Adam did everything together, including enlisting in the Army. Their first assignment together found them and eight others in a platoon on the way to rescue a nun and 12 children, deep inside the restricted zone.
As they arrived at their destination it didn’t take long for them to realize it was a trap. Empty streets and vacant buildings only meant one thing, they were set up and needed to get out of their fast. Adam put the truck into reverse telling the platoon they’d been set up and to keep their eyes wide open and shoot at will. He drove in reverse then spun the truck around and buried the speedometer needle. They knew they needed to get off of the road so Adam drove the truck off of the road and into a thick forest of trees.
Barely coming to a complete stop, he instructed Samuel to take the platoon south while he radioed for help. Samuel was reluctant to leave Adam alone. Adam motioned to Samuel to get them to safety as he crouched down behind a boulder next to a dense area of trees.
It wasn’t long until Samuel was right next to him behind the boulder. A static filled response came on the radio instructing them to their extraction point. Adam and Samuel ran through the forest to meet up with their platoon. They all gathered together as Adam instructed them to get to the clearing in the forest for pick up.
End part one
