Hello friends, welcome to the latest “on a tray” blog tour. With summer vibes and some imagination each blogger was asked to decorate a tray with the theme “By the Sea”. There’s plenty of inspiration for you to create a tray for your home. Please take our tour through blog land and find amazing summer home decor all on a tray that is sure to inspire you. If you are arriving from Dinner at Eight, welcome!
Remember it doesn’t matter where you live, or how big your home is. You don’t even have to buy anything, use what you have. Most of us can find a place in our home for a tray filled with memories of time spent by the sea. Or daydreams and imaginings of being by the sea. Let us inspire you to make a “By the Sea” tray for your home.

I started my tray by gathering seashells from my “beach box”. The big conch shell and clam shell were both discovered at low tide while I was living in Puerto Rico.

The glass float is a gift from my mother. She found it when she was in Australia visiting her brother.

The star fish are from a local store and I purchased them ages ago. The seagull is also from a local shop, sadly it is closed now.

The blue netting is actually a market bag I use each year when purchasing corn from a local farm. And the sea glass is what I often use for vase fillers.

I know I have what may be considered an odd mix of colors, purples and blues. But I really wanted to use my Turkish towel, and it’s lavender. So I added some pale purple wildflowers among the shells.

The rest of my seashell filled tray came from my home decor. I didn’t buy anything (smile).
I plan to do more “On a Tray” blog tours, please watch for my blog post invitations. I look forward to having you join us. If you’ve participated in a tour before you are already on the list for invitations (smile).

Katherine, your tray is gorgeous! I love how the lavender goes so perfectly – it’s the perfect accent color for your tray. I love all of the memories in your tray too. xo
Thank you my friend, it was nice to share my tray with happy memories ( smile) xo
Katherine, I learned so much about you reading this post! I had no idea you once lived in Puerto Rico! How wonderful to have treasures from the time you spent there! Thank you, as always for hosting this lovely hop! Such a great idea for summertime! I have collected shells on the beaches here in Florida, but not nearly so beautiful as that big clam shell! I love bringing out the coastal elements for summertime, and this was such a great occasion to share them! Thanks again dear friend and have a great summer!
Thank you and thank you for joining in the fun my friend. Yes, I have been very fortunate to have lived in many countries. I wish I had all of the seashells from my time living in Turkey. I had buckets full! I found some wonderful shells in Florida on Saint Augustine island, but I gave them to a group of children who were searching for shells too. It is my dream to live in a little cottage by the water, so in the meantime it’s always fun to daydream. Wishing you a happy healthy summer xo
Katherine, I love how your tray items spilled over each side. It really showcases the bounty of the sea and spotlights so many different types of shells. And I love your use of lavenders — I’ve seen many seaside sunsets that incorporate lots of purple shades Your seagull is the perfect focal point!
In addition, I wanted to thank you for spearheading another imaginative tray blog tour. They have been so much fun to view and participate in!
You are so kind and forgiving too. I don’t know why I keep putting come to dinner at eight as your blog title. I love the color lavender, I’ve always said purple is my favorite color. But it’s really drifted like the tides ( pun intended) to mean the pale purple, lavender that I really like the most. I’m happy you participate in the tours, I think it’s a nice balance between a tablescape and a centerpiece or vignette. Your tray was lovely. Big Hugs!
This is a lovely mix of colors. And the seashell from Puerto Rico. is a treasure you can pull out each summer. Thank you for putting this fun hop together, Katherine!
