Blue Moon Morning
Hello friends, this morning started like any other, me half awake, looking forward to my first cup of tea. Izzy giving me that “let’s go outside, mama” look, the usual start of the day. As I stood in the cool early morning air, ( it’s 25° right now) wishing I would have been smart enough to put my robe on, I waited in the dark for Izzy to do his business. I looked up and saw …. a big and beautiful, Blue Moon!
I realize the moon this morning isn’t actually an “official” blue moon. But, look at the haze of blue surrounding it. That really makes the moment wonderful. For a moment the world was quiet, the light was soft, and everything felt blissful. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

If you’ve ever tried to photograph the moon, you know it’s a humbling experience. You line up the perfect shot. You adjust your settings. Somehow your camera insists the moon is either a blinding flashlight or a tiny white dot. (smile) This morning I took several photos hoping just one would be good enough to share. As you can see it’s far from perfect, ( just like me) but you can see the blue. This photo is untouched, no editing, etc.

There’s something comforting about moments like that. Standing in the backyard, dog sniffing who-knows-what, and realizing you’re witnessing something extraordinary. I hope this encourages you as much as it encouraged me. Remember to look up, slow down, and appreciate the beauty of God’s work, even before the day begins.
Sometimes all you need for a little wonder is a camera, a cup of tea waiting inside, and a dog who really just wanted to pee.
I hope your morning has a bit of unexpected beauty in it for you. (smile) Thank you for spending your time with me.
Katherine, this morning was crystal clear with a number of stars and planets visible in our sky here in North Texas. Your blue moon is beautiful! I’m glad you were able to see it. I was outside at 2:45am clipping frost blankets around several plants while cold winds descended from the Arctic north. It was chilly, even in a heavy jacket. It was cold but I’m also glad to have been outside in the cool winds.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Big warm hugs,
Barb
Hi Barbara! What a lovely comment my friend. I’m hoping your plants will withstand the cold. At least you had enough sense to put on a coat ( giggle). HUGS!
